Mutya mocks own queen?

IT seems that the newly-crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia – Pacific 2007 Zephorah Aldana Mayon (a.k.a. Zara Aldana) is in hot water. This after she expressed her intention to return her crown based on the reasons she mentioned in her letter dated July 19, 2007.

Some of these, written in Filipino, include: (1) the contract she signed with Mutya ng Pilipinas, Inc. is not clear; (2) she is not treated like a princess; (3) she feels tired of the criticisms hurled at her by fellow candidates; (4) she doesn’t want to change her lifestyle.

However, based on

the meeting arranged by the pageant organizer held at Annabel’s Restaurant – Morato, all the issues and concerns raised by Zara and her family have already been resolved by her manager Joey Aquino and MPI.

“As far as our last meeting with Mutya is concerned, I think everything is okay already. In fact, MPI is now finalizing Zara’s schedule of activities,” explains Aquino, referring to the news that his talent has given her crown. “So, I assume, everything is okay.”

But Zara is puzzled on this latest development: That she already gave up her crown based on the articles that came out in print of late. Zara knows that her manager has already assured MPI of Zara’s smooth reign.

“I don’t know where all this is coming from,” she said. “Yes, I admit that I really expressed my intention of returning my crown; but after I was enlightened by Mutya and my manager…I’m now taking up the challenge. Please don’t blame me, my family and my manager on this – because it was my personal decision.”

She admits that she will get flak on her change of heart.

“I’m human. Honestly, I don’t know what I got into. That’s why I seek sound advice and enlightenment from people I know. But now that I have already been enlightened, why are they attacking me?”

Judging from the press statements of MPI, Zara was already stripped of her title.
What went wrong with the Annabel’s meeting? Isn’t it that all the issues concerned were already ironed out?

So, what’s all this fuzz all about? Is Mutya trying to destroy its queen?

Too many questions. But there are still no clear answers to this date. Well, the plot thickens...
