Borgy files a counter-affidavit on charges of mauling

Commercial model Borgy Manotoc has filed a counter-affidavit refuting the charge of serious physical injuries filed against him in connection with a bar brawl in Taguig City last April, DZMM reported Tuesday.

Manotoc, grandson of former strongman Ferdinand Marcos, whose real name is Fernando Martin Manotoc, filed his counter-affidavit before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office.

He and his friends were accused of beating up Carlo Brown, 22, outside the Embassy Bar on April 10.

Brown said Manotoc reacted violently after he talked to the model's girlfriend, Ornusa Cadness. He was hospitalized after suffering nine cuts in the head. His family formally filed the charges against Manotoc on May 9.

Lawyer Abraham Espejo said he accepted the job of defending Manotoc because he believed that the model is innocent and cannot lose in the case.

Espejo added that two witnesses will testify that Manotoc was not part of the group of men that beat up Brown.

One of their witnesses is a security guard at Embassy Bar who was charged with making false statements by Brown's camp. The guard also filed his counter-affidavit Tuesday morning.

The report said Manotoc briefly talked to reporters about his case.
