Sharon talks about mother's health, KC's surname

Bago matapos ang kampanya for the May 14 elections ay nabalita ang biglang panghihina ng katawan ng ina ni Sharon Cuneta na si Elaine Cuneta. Pero sa panayam ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa Megastar ay sinabi nitong nasa mabuti na raw na kalagayan si Mommy Elaine, bagama't hindi na raw siya makalakad.

"She's okay, she's happy," pagbabalita ni Sharon. "Ang frustration ko is I wish I could travel with her pa kasi nahihirapan siya. Naka-wheelchair siya. She has a 24-hour

nurse and I keep forcing her to live in our house and Kiko [Panglinan, Sharon's husband] also asked her to live with us. Parang she feels daw my Daddy only in her room.

"But what my brother [Chet Cuneta] did was from Parañaque, he moved back to Dasma [Dasmariñas, Makati]. He still has his house there, his son lives there. My brother lives with my mother now. But my brother, he's moving to an airline in India that's brand new.

"So, I'm worried about Mommy kasi ang kulit niya. Ayaw niyang tumira sa akin. My whole house is waiting for her and I tell her ‘What do you want?' I even told KC, ‘Anak, kulitin mo Mamita mo, dali!' Kasi if she wants to stay in KC's [KC Concepcion] room, puwede. Mahihirapan siya sa guest house because of the staircase.

"Kung anuman ang kailangang iurong ko sa bahay namin, i-renovate ko, gagawin ko. Pero she likes to stay where my father spent his last days with her. Dun lang daw niya napi-feel, e. So, kahit nasa akin siya ng four days, biglang tinatakasan pa ako niyan. Pag tulog ako, saka siya aalis. Because she feels she has to go home," kuwento ni Sharon.

FRENCH LESSON. Samantala, nagpapasalamat naman si Sharon na at 41 years old ay maganda pa rin ang takbo ng kanyang showbiz career. Bukod sa kanyang regular TV show ay marami rin siyang movie offers at nakakapag-concert pa rin siya.

"At this point, di ba, dapat si KC na ang magtrabaho at humiga na lang ako at ako na lang ang cheerleader at president ng fan club niya?" biro niya. "But you know, it's just like when KC comes and she starts working, I will be like, I said president of her fan club. I will support her because she already has her degree when I still don't have and she will have four years of memories and experiences in a country na wala siyang koneksiyon with. Wala kaming kamag-anak doon and she learned to live alone wonderfully. That will always be an asset for her kahit saang mundo siya makarating.

"So Frankie is taking French and violin lesson. French because the three children... KC started it so when Miel turns four, for sure she'll take also French. Para tatlo silang nagkakaintindihan. Saka na kami [ni Kiko].

"Ako, marunong ng Spanish kasi tinake ko nung high school. Sa IS [International School], requirement kasi ‘yon. Kasi ang boyfriend ko noon Spanish-tatay ni KC!" sabay tawa ni Sharon.

KC & GABBY. Speaking of Gabby Concepcion, happy rin ba ito na naka-graduate na ang anak nilang si KC?

"Hindi ko naman natanong," sabi ni Sharon. "But they're [KC and Gabby] always in touch. Alam mo ang pride ko lang when she went there [to the U.S.], di ba nga kumalat na dito lahat? I was just so proud kasi parang hindi mo maaakting ‘yon, e. Parang I was just happy that his [Gabby's] whole family, pati siya, nakita niya ‘yung anak niya, hindi nabawasan ‘yung pagmamahal at respeto sa kanya. So, in a way, ‘yung nangyayari sa anak ko, nagre-reflect din sa pagpapalalaki ko. Sa lahat ng intrigang pinagdaanan ko, tiniis ko, iniyak ko.

"Nung araw, hindi ako nagdadaldal ‘pag intirga. Hindi ako sumasagot, di ba? Pag ngayon, parang ang feeling ko, I've earned the right to say what I feel. Pero pag bata kayo, you like to be quiet kasi parang palalakihin lang.

"I was just proud kasi ‘yon talaga ang wish ko na lumaki ang anak ko na buo ang pagkatao hindi ‘yung may bitterness or anger. And I think I succeeded in that."

KC'S SURNAME. Dahil dito, muling naungkat ang konrobersiya sa apeyido ni KC. Nilinaw ni Sharon na noong mag-decide sila ni Kiko na i-legally adopt ng senador si KC para maging Pangilinan ang apelyido niya ay Cuneta na ang legal surname ni KC noon. Pero sa publiko ay Concepcion pa rin ang ginagamit ni KC.

"You know what, may I repeat and I'll never talk about it again. She was only 16, di ba, when we [she and Kiko] adopted her? It was only Frankie when she came along. Please do not forget when we got the declaration of nullity [of her marriage with Gabby], it wasn't even an annulment, remember?

"That's public record. There's no marriage to annul sa civil. Sa church, meron. So, sa church, she retains the Concepcion. This is public record. Since1993 or '94, when the civil decision came out, Cuneta na siya, e, legally. So, I had to change that when Frankie came along. Kung gusto ko lang mang-asar, dapat nung umpisa pa lang.

"In 1994, Cuneta na siya legally, hindi siya Concepcion. So, nobody wanted to take that name away and nobody will. Even when she graduated, it's Kristina Cuneta Concepcion.

"My husband [Kiko] ... he's so secure in his manhood. He knows that this is the biological father, but he's proud to be her father and this is the story of our life. You cannot change it.

"You know, we only did it to protect KC because may siblings na siya. E, alangan naman ‘yung panganay ko pa ang pagdating ng araw ang hindi makakuha ng kanya [Kiko] kasi when you're illegitimate... kasi essentially ganun 'yon.

"Si Frankie, Pangilingan. Tapos siya [KC], hindi. ‘Tsaka mabuting alam nilang magkakapatid. And Frankie is smart. She knows already the story of our lives. And we live very happy together. You should see the three of them, they're my pride and joy.

"But don't forget, when we adopted KC, hindi na siya Concepcion. Cuneta na siya. People conveniently omitted that sa lahat ng articles. But that is on record. You cannot change history.

"Even when that happened, she's in Poveda before she moved to IS. No one changed it. Everybody naman knows who's her father, di ba?" paliwanag ni Sharon.
