Mother Lily Monteverde is playing fairy godmother to Maja Salvador, the ‘Cinderella’ from Aparri who dreamt of becoming a movie star.

Mother is launching Maja to full movie stardom via Regal Entertainment’s My Kuya’s Wedding, a heartwarming comedy for the entire family. This is Maja’s biggest break as a movie actress.

She joins a long list of stars that Mother Lily has given the “magic touch.” These include distinguished names like Richard Gutierrez, Angel Locsin,

Jennylyn Mercado, Iza Calzado, and of course, Maricel Soriano, Gabby Concepcion, Richard Gomez and many others.

Mother says, “Maja deserves a good and big film project because she is a very versatile star. Magaling sa drama. Magaling sa comedy. Magaling pang sumayaw. I know she’s done other movies and she has plenty of TV shows.

“Pero, iba pa rin kapag nabigyan ng movie, especially if it’s a big and high- profile project like My Kuya’s Wedding, kung saan bida siya.”

The veteran lady producer adds, “Bilib na bilib talaga ako kay Maja kasi aside from being very talented, she’s also a very good daughter. She loves her family very much. She deserves all the nice things that are coming her way. It’s my honor to work with her. This movie is like my gift to this wonderful girl.”

Mother Lily’s movie comes at a special time in Maja’s career when several award-giving bodies, namely, the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial, Enpress (Entertainment Press), Star Awards and Yes! Magazine, have recognized her as a Breakthrough Star.

Ever since she started in showbiz in 2003, Maja’s stature has been steadily rising. She now has three regular TV shows — ASAP, Engkantao and a teleserye to be aired soon.

She is also a sought-after product endorser. Maja’s the image model of Banana Peel Filp Flops, Folded & Hung Clothing, Lewis and Pearl Cologne and Fresher Feminine Wash.

Her beautiful photographs are displayed prominently on several billboards on Edsa, earning for her the title “Billboard Princess.”

Chit Ramos, Maja’s manager, believes she and her ward made the right decision to entrust the latter’s big movie break to Mother Lily.

“Marami kaming offers na natanggap, pero si Mother ang pinili namin kasi starmaker talaga siya.”

My Kuya’s Wedding also stars Ryan Agoncillo, Pauleen Luna, Jason Abalos, Dominic Ochoa, Say Alonzo, Frank Garcia, Ethel Booba, Janus del Pradio, Dick Ysrael, Ryan Yllana, Debraliz, Kitkat, Cheena and more.

The movie, directed by Topel Lee and written by Alan Tijamo, opens in theaters nationwide in August.
