Richard Gutierrez personally researched about Greenpeace and then called and e-mailed the organization.
Greenpeace is a peaceful environment group responsible for ending the commercial whaling and the slaughter of baby seals, halting the dumping of toxic wastes, and creating a nuclear-free world.
Richard who currently portrays the famous character Lupin in Philippine TV claims he got his concern for the environment from his dad, Eddie Gutierrez.
He explained during the launch of Simple Lang, a Greenpeace campaign in the Philippines last Saturday, July 7, at Visayas Avenue:
"Ako mismo ang tumawag at nag-email sa kanila telling them I want to be part of Greenpeace and asking what can I do to help. I'm passionate about this."
He’s still a new member having just officially joined the organization for almost a month but already he was tasked to become a local celebrity spokesperson.
He has visited the launch of the first electric jeepney in Makati, and now he himself had the press called and invited about Simple Lang.
"As an artist, I know I can bring a different crowd to be aware of this," he says.
Cesar Montano, Iza Calzado and Richard’s twin brother Raymond came early for the Simple Lang campaign.
Richard is currently coordinating with his home network GMA-7 on how they can help Greenpeace.
