Juday, Maricel compete for best actress award

Diamond Star Maricel Soriano and drama princess Judy Ann Santos lead the nominees of best actress plum for the Gawad Urian awards night set in August.

Judy Ann is nominated for her performance in Star Cinema’s “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo,” while Maricel gets the nod for “Inang Yaya.”

Other nominees for the best actress plum are Mylene Dizon for “Rome and Juliet,” Gina Pareño for “Kubrador,” and Cherry Pie Picache for “Kaleldo.”

Meanwhile, actor Mark Gil (for the movie “Rotonda”) and son Sid Lucero (for “Donsol”) are competing against each other in the Best Actor category. Joining them are Ryan Agoncillo of “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo” and Rustom Padilla who played “Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah.”

The nominees for Best Picture are “Huling Balyan,” “Kaleldo,” “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo,” “Kubrador,” “Manoro,” “Rome & Juliet” and “Todo, Todos, Teros.”

Jeffrey Jeturian, Joey Reyes, and Joel Lamangan are strong contenders for the Best Director Award.
