Heating up Sunday aternoon TV

The growing number of Sam Milby’s admirers should be happy to know that ABS-CBN’s prized talent will soon grace afternoon TV when the new episode on Love Spell premieres on Sunday.

Titled “Cellphone,” Sam plays a Filipino-American who decides to return to his parents’ home country after a long time.

His travel back home is a promise to his dying father to personally deliver an envelope to his mother who remained in the Philippines. In his journey back home to find estranged mama Edna (Malou de Guzman), strange things start to happen, the mobile phone he inherited from his daddy starts sending videos of the future, even the contents of the envelope is revealed—$10,000. The huge amount of money makes him more motivated to accomplish his mission: Find Edna.

As it turns out, Edna is a jolly mother of two, dirt poor, a laundrywoman and lives in the slums of Tondo.

In Andrew’s mission to prove her mother’s worth of the inheritance, he meets his match, Wena (Angelica Panganiban), a nursing student who disobeys everything her mother says. They get along and realize that they have a lot in common, mainly mother problems. The two realize and eventually appreciate the efforts their mothers exert.

Angelica Panganiban plays Wena, and two former Pinoy Big Brother Housemates Robert Woods and Saicy Aguila join the cast that also includes Helga Krapf, Jiro Manio and veteran comedienne Malou de Guzman.

The big question is, can the magical cellular phone put the TV audience in a spell? We’ll find out if the ratings of this Sunday afternoon fantasy drama series gets better with this new episode.
