Direk Maryo amazed at Maricel, Aga's maturity

DIRECTOR Maryo de los Reyes cannot say enough of the chance to work with Maricel Soriano and Aga Muhlach together in Star Cinema’s soon-to-be-released movie, "A Love Story." It has been quite a while since he had worked with either. He directed both in several projects but never as a team.

"Kaya nga I was so excited when Star Cinema offered me this project," Direk Maryo said. "Lalo na nung malaman kong for the first time magkakasama sina Maricel at Aga sa isang pelikula. My God,

I have long dreamt of working with them together in a movie."

His excitement grew even more when he was finally presented with the script, which was written by Vanesa Valdez. "It’s a mature love story about three people who got themselves involved in a situation which made them realize that love can be so overwhelming but at the same time painful. Angelica Panganiban plays the other leading lady," he related.

"Ang laki ng ipinagbago nila bilang mga artista. Before I had to tell them how to go about a scene, now they ask me if they can interpret it the way they want to do it. So, itatanong ko sa kanila, paano ang balak n’yong gawin? ‘Pag okay na, sabi ko, ‘Okay.’"

Direk Maryo first handled Aga in the movie, "Bagets." In the case of Maricel, he worked with him in several memorable movies, one of which was "Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit," which won him a best director trophy and Maricel the best actress trophy.
