CHECK IT OUT

A NEIGHBOR still remembers how Annabelle Rama announced to the world how lucky her daughter, Ruffa Gutierrez was for having married Yilmaz Bektas, a rich Turkish national.

She was thankful Ruffa didn’t end up marrying a “patay gutom” that some people surmised was an actor who was linked to her. But it was revealed recently that she was referring to a certain Richard, whom Ruffa admitted to have married in Las Vegas years ago, when she was 23, and the guy was 20 (not 38, as earlier announced).

Now things have turned different.

Our neighbor says Ruffa’s story is a potential telenovela material. Her experience was traumatic especially that it happened in a foreign country where it’s hard to find someone to help.

Some call it karma, but to us, Ruffa is still lucky. She’s no ordinary girl, she’s an actress, a former beauty queen and a mother of two beautiful daughters. She can rise again on her own.

WHERE TO, GRETCHEN?

ANOTHER showbiz observer says Gretchen Barretto’s story may look different, but it has likewise reaped the same negative reactions. They say, “nasa kama na, gusto pang lumipat sa sahig.”

But it’s really hard to judge her based on the Internet photo of her with John Estrada. Even if experts say the photo was not digitally altered, the circumstances surrounding the event when it was taken are not known to us. Still, judgmental people say it will surely bring negative effects on her family life, especially that her “partner,” Tonyboy Cojuangco, belongs to a prominent family and looked up to in the high society, so to speak.

WEATHER-WEATHER LANG ‘YAN, DAWN?

HERE’S a big comparison: Dawn Zulueta who got involved in a word war with Gretchen seems to be in the winning end now.

Undoubtedly, Dawn is happily married to Anton Lagdameo, who recently won as congressman in Davao.

In other words, Dawn is now a congressional wife who will be rubbing elbows with the country’s other snobbish congressional spouses. (Pero teka, bago kayo magmalaki, ipaliwanag n’yo muna kung saan dinadala ng mga esposo n’yo ang pork barrel na galing sa bulsa ng mamamayan, huh?) Back to Dawn, just like in the popular saying, “weather-weather lang ‘yan,” would she say she now has the last laugh?
