Boy Abunda On Mike Defensor: Mike Defensor in my heart will always be a winner.
Boy Abunda writes in his column about the defeat of a promising candidate Mike Defensor who could have helped boost the Senate bloc of our country.
He claims he was not making money because he was a 'supporter, volunteer, and friend.' Further, Abunda still holds passionately to this very minute
that they had the best man (Defensor) for the senate.
He also laments that he could have campaigned harder for Mike Defensor:
"I should have spent more time in Samar where I could have gotten more votes. I could have gone house to house in Batasan Hills and all of Tondo and Commonwealth and Bulacan where I could have campaigned more vigorously. Oh, I could have convinced everyone I met in malls, studios, gay bars, streets to vote for Mike."
If it's true that Mr. Abunda didn't endeavor to help Mike Defensor's solely for money, then that is admirable. He put his reputation on the line for a candidate he truly believed in without the exchange of cold hard cash. It's disheartening to see many stars who we've supported in the past because we know of their unlucky lot in life and so we cherished their talents. It's so tacky therefore to see them advertising for candidates with millions of pesos payed for their "endorsements".
Kudos to you Mr. Abunda, however to be honest your commercial of "Tol, Mike Defensor" looked a bit rushed and half-baked. Other than that, what you said is true that most of the odds are against Mike Defensor who is allied to a much maligned Administration Leadership.
