Is Ryan Agoncillo the next star to 'switch networks?'
In a press promotion for Ryan Agoncillo's film 'My Kuya's Wedding', Ryan apparently mentioned that he can go back to GMA-7 if there's a good offer for a talk show because he misses hosting. Ryan is one of leading love interest of Judy Ann Santos in ABS-CBN's show 'Ysabella', not to mention the real boyfriend of Juday. Juday had this to say:
“Hindi ako nakikialam sa career move niya. Susuportahan ko siya kung saan siya mas masaya at kung
hosting ang magpapasaya sa kanya, suportado ko siya.”
Is this a hint of the couple to the public of their 'planned network switch'? Remember that where Judy Ann is, almost always Ryan is with her. Or is this a hint of a break-up perhaps? Then again maybe the couple wants to have work that are away from each other for a change.
It's very viable that Juday would want a switch to another network, heck to GMA-7 because rumor has it Angel right now is the highest paid female star in ABS, more than Claudine's and Juday's. Judy Ann has said that is not an issue for her, but how about with her manager who will fight a whole battalion for his star? If you are the manager, would you allow that to happen because Judy Ann is undeniably more famous and pulls more weight than Angel? Besides GMA right now has a vacuum to fill that's left by Angel, and Marian Rivera is the sole GMA talent that can fill the void, but what if she fails? Katrina Halili is too identified with her sexy image, Jolina is too pa-cute, Jennylyn is Becky Aguila's talent.
Juday can become the queen of GMA, and for sure she'll be a more fitting queen since she already has proven a lot and her charms can cross the boundaries of network loyalty. I read once in Alfie Lorenzo's article that he had a tiff with
ABS-CBN for delaying the showing of 'Ysabella', which ultimately proved to be a successful show compared to the much-hyped Rounin. In short Juday is a proven money-maker and crowd drawer, and it seems Alfie is unhappy with ABS, so will Judy Ann ever be stamped with the heart icon or will she forever be a Kapamilya?
Maybe beyond the public's eyes a battle is ensuing, with the big players fighting it out for Judy Ann Santos. One of these days perhaps an announcement will once again rock our world, or maybe not.
These days, it seems the cliché rings true for network queens: "If the price is right!"
