Richard: "I'm happy with GMA, bakit pa ako lilipat sa iba?"
RUFFA, Richard and Raymond Gutierrez officially launched their fund-raising show, “Rampa for A Cause,” to be held at Rockwell on September 16 for the benefit of Make a Wish Foundation and World Vision.
“My fund-raising bazaar last year earned P1 million that we gave to the Red Cross and the victims of the landslides,” says Ruffa. “I’ve been planning to hold it again last March, but due to the stormy changes in my life, hindi ko nagawa. Now na tapos na ‘yun, I have time to
focus on this event again. I asked my brothers if they wanted to join and they helped me plan it. This time, it will be a combination of tiangge where we’ll charge P300 for the entrance. In the evening will be the fashion show and musical presentation with cocktails, at P1,500 per ticket.”
“Our family is so blessed so we have to help the less fortunate as our way of giving back what the Lord has given to us,” says Richard.
“My daughter Lorin celebrates her birthday August 3 but we’ll have no party,” adds Ruffa. “Instead, we’ll all go to an orphanage so she will learn the values of sharing.”
Who’ll be the guest stars in the fashion-musical show? “Definitely, my friends Dawn Zulueta and Donita Rose will be there, then the talents of my mom like JC De Vera and Ehra Madrigal, and the talents of Shirley Kwan, Genesis and Arnold Vegafria. We want them to read muna what you’ll write about it para when we invite them, alam na nila ang tungkol dito. It’ll also serve as my soft launch for Ruffa’s Perfect Pout and my colognes.”
Ruffa is busy right now shooting “Desperadas” with Jay R as her leading man and taping “Kokey” with Redford White and Mylene Dizon. “Si Iza Calzado pa lang ang nakakaeksena ko and she’s superbait, magaling makisama. Mother Lily is getting my mom to play our mother in the film, pero ayaw ni Mommy. Ang ‘My Monster Mom’ na lang daw ang gagawin niya, so baka si Melanie Marquez na lang ang kunin.”
What can Richard Gutierrez say about Angel Locsin’s coming transfer to ABS-CBN? “I’ll definitely be sad about it kasi we’ve been good friends since ‘Click’ and ‘Mulawin’. I was shocked when I learned about it as I never expected she’d leave GMA-7, but I guess we just have to respect and accept her decision. Basta I will always just be here for her anytime she needs me and I hope matapos na ang controversies na kinakaharap niya. Nagkausap kami sa phone and I told her lilipas din ito.”
His show, “Lupin,” is ending this month. “Gusto man naming i-extend pa, hindi na puwede as the Japanese producer who owns the rights just gave us three months for it to run. As it is, we already had a two-week extension. But even before it ends, GMA-7 has already assigned me a new vehicle, ‘Kamandag’, written by Direk Carlo Caparas. I’ll just rest for a while before we start taping it.”
Does he also think of moving to another station? “No, I’m happy with GMA-7. Wala na akong hihingin pa. Alagang-alaga naman nila ako, bakit pa ko lilipat sa iba?”
Mother Lily says she plans to pair him with Maja Salvador and, maybe, do a love triangle film with Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual? “Maja is very pretty and I’d like to work with her. As for the film with Angel and Piolo, I wish it would come true dahil gusto ko, mawala na yung barriers between stars and I can also work with stars of ABS-CBN.”
RAYMOND COMPETITION WITH ATE RUFFA NO BIG DEAL
RAYMOND GUTIERREZ is elated he topped the survey of best dressed male celebrities conducted by “Unang Hirit.” “It’s flattering and I guess I have to be more careful now with the clothes I wear,” he says.
It’s amusing to see him sitting beside his Ate Ruffa when their shows, “The Buzz” and “Showbiz Central” are direct competitors. “Wala namang problema roon,” he says.
“Pero two weeks ago, tinalo n’yo kami, huh,” says Ruffa. “That was when our mom guested in their show to talk about her sexy photos that came out in the Internet. Kaya, mommy, huwag ka na lang maggi-guest sa kanila.”
