5 medals

The Grade 6 pupil of Stella Maris Academy here also bagged the “Performer of the World” award, junior category, and “Vocalist of the World” honors.

Aria reached the finals after securing five medals and plaques in the two rounds of the competition. Her winning pieces: “I Believe I Can Fly” (pop category), “Don’t Rain On My Parade” (Broadway), “Mas Que Nada” (Latin), and “Some body To Love” and “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” (gospel).

Aria, fifth placer in ABS-CBN’s “Little Big Superstar” tilt last February, is the only child of Jonnel, a guitarist and vocalist of a local band and Maria Theresa, a telephone firm employee. The girl said she realized she could sing when she was just six years old.

Music school

Her parents had named Aria after her father’s guitar brand, the Aria Pro Solo.

Jonnel and Theresa said they planned to put up a music school to hone young talents in Bulacan as a way of sharing their blessings.
