‘OUIJA’ MEANT FOR INTERNATIONAL MARKET

GMA FILMS made sure “Ouija” is something different from other horror films. This is why they shot on location at the Floating Cemetery of the beautiful island of Camiguin. “First time pinagsama sina Judy Ann Santos at Jolina Magdangal so dapat lang na naiiba ito,” says scriptwriter Aloysius Adlawan who has just also megged his own horror flick, “Signos”. “We made sure walang sapawang nangyari sa kanila at pantay ang roles at exposure nila sa movie.”

This is very generous of Juday since, as of now, there’s no doubt she’s the bigger star between them. The huge success of filmfest topgrosser “Kasal Kasali Kasalo” no doubt made her very bankable, whereas Jolina’s last film was “Lovestruck,” where she played a supporting role to the StarStruck winners. Also, Juday continues to star in her own soap like “Ysabella,” whereas Jolina does not have a regular TV show except “SOP.” Director Topel Lee says the material is based on a documentary about a British family who used the Ouija board for the wrong reasons. “Kaya puwede talaga itong mangyari sa totoong buhay,” he adds. “To make sure the film will have excellent sound, we’ll bring it to Thailand for that surround sound system since GMA also wants to release this internationally, parang ‘yung ‘Sigaw’ that was recognized in Hollywood.”

Also in the cast are Iza Calzado, Rhian Ramos and Desiree del Valle, to be shown on July 25.
