Blah, Another Wendy Valdez: Spare my family

Seriously, I should hit myself every time I post something about Wendy, worst PBB house mate in history. But just like a gory carcass of a stray cat hit by a car, we just can't look away. And Wendy, who the heck is mad at your family anyway? Please, people are mad at YOU and not on your family. Duh, you really can do every gimmick possible just to be talked about. -Ela-

“Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Wendy Valdez begged her detractors to spare her family in the continuing brickbats against her attitude towards fellow female housemates in the primetime reality-based television show on ABS-CBN.

Wendy was reacting to the jeers of the jampacked crowd in the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday during the show’s finale. Her nemesis, Ma. Beatriz “Bea” Saw, became the grand champion, garnering 1,571,556 votes—the highest in the show’s two-season history.

Wendy landed in third place with 1,209,978 votes, behind Filipino-Swiss Michael Richard “Mickey” Prez, who got 1,286,166 votes.

“Nagkamali po ako and I admit it. Ang masakit lang po Tito Boy yung lumabas po yung nanay ko, binu-boo pa rin ng tao. Sana po kung may pagkakamali po ako sa inyo, ako na lang po sana. Huwag na lang po sanang idamay yung pamilya ko. Sorry,” Wendy said in a live interview with host Boy Abunda in ABS-CBN’s “The Buzz” on Sunday.

“Wala naman po silang kasalanan. Hindi po kasalanan ng nanay ko na ako’y naging anak niya. Hindi niya ako pinili. At yung mga kapatid ko, hindi nila kasalanan na kapatid nila ako so parang awa niyo na po, respeto na lang bilang tao. Kung gusto nyo akong ngaragin ako na lang po, Huwag na po yung pamilya ko. Wala po silang kinalaman dito. Di po sila ang pumasok sa Big Brother,” Wendy added.

In her first interview after leaving the Big Brother House, Wendy said she appreciated her family’s support and love despite the catcalls.

“Yun nga po ang masakit. Yung pagmamahal nandoon pa rin. Kung pwede lang sana magalit na lang sila sa akin para ako na lang yung (nagdudusa). Kasi po nahirapan po ako pag nakikita kong pong umiiyak sila.”

Wendy drew the ire of the PBB audience during the latter part of the show’s second season because of her widely-followed spat with Bea and another female housemate, Gianina Marie “Ge-Ann” Abrahan, who ended up in fourth place during the “Big Night,” with 1,119,714 votes. She had given offending remarks against Bea and Ge-Ann that the audience despised.

This led to controversy after a particular “eviction night” that pitted her against a male housemate, Nel Rapiz, who was believed as the more popular competitor. Nel was evicted, causing an uproar from the audience charging that the voting process through text messaging, Internet, and vote cards was rigged.

ABS-CBN, through the PBB business unit head Laurenti Dyogi, denied the charge.

In her “The Buzz” interview, Wendy admitted her mistakes, part of which was ignoring the cameras that showed her every move live all over the world.

“Meron akong mga pangit na ugali. Aminado po ako doon. Lahat naman po ng tao nagagalit pag nasasaktan. Lahat po ng tao may masamang ugali. Pagkakamali ko lang po di ko po siya nakayang itago sa harap ng maraming camera. Dahil ang pakiramdam ko po nasa loob lang ako ng bahay.”

She said despite all the negative issues hurled against her, she remained not a bad person.

“Hindi po ako perpekto. Alam ko po nagkamali ako. Alam ko po yung ginawa ko. Hindi ko po dinedepensa ang sarili ko. Pero, hindi po ako masamang tao. Yun lang po ang sasabihin ko. Nagkamali po ako. Pero hindi ako masamang tao.”

Wendy appealed to her critics not to constrain her in the Big Brother competition and look outside the house.

“Hindi lang po yung Big Brother ang buhay ko. Hindi lang po ang apat na buwan na pag-stay ko doon. Ang dami ko nang na-experience and ginawa para sa pamilya ko kung ano ang pwede kong gawin. And alam ko po na pagkatapos ng Big Brother, may buhay pa po ako. Sana po huwag nyo pong i-limit sa Big Brother. Yung buhay ko po ibigay nyo na lang po sa akin.”

Wendy had been consoled and supported throughout her ordeal by her rumored boyfriend and fellow housemate Bruce Quebral. Bruce also appeared on “The Buzz” on Sunday to again express his support for Wendy with a bit of fresh news. Bruce said he and his current non-showbiz girlfriend had called it quits.

Wendy appreciated the gesture and thanked Bruce for the “love she had not experienced before.”
