Philippine's Next Top Model: Grendel Reigns Supreme

"An ordinary stone turned into a gem." Grendel

Grendel Alvarado wins the grand prize tonight with most of the judges teary eyed after a difficult decision which will surely change one of the lives of the last two contenders Grendel and Rina.

The challenges they had to go through are:
first, a photo shoot for L'Oreal's mascara line.
second, a commercial for L'Oreal's foundation line.
third, probably the most nerve-wracking of the three is to join in the catwalk with beautiful professional Brazilian models for the summer collection of Zara.

Grendel and Rina were pretty much tie with the first two challenges. However, the tides have turned for the worst on Rina during the Zara fashion show. Apparently while on the catwalk, she waved to a friend who was in the audience.
Robbie Carmona told her point-blank during the final judging that this is one of the worst faux pas a model can do during a fashion show. Plus she was beautiful during the show but she lacked a certain something.

Grendel on the other hand amazed the judges with her performance on Zara. She owned her walk, according to Robbie. This is something like what Naomi Campbell is famous for, her trademark walk which Grendel certainly has something similar with. Grendel was simply energetic and lively on the show which was amazing for a newbie like her.

She was also praised for being able to deliver on the photo shoot and commercial shoots which they feared she couldn't do well because of her unconventional beauty.

The judges were: Robbie Carmona, Ruffa Gutierrez, Vince Uy, Thelma Sioson-Juan, and Xander Angeles.
