Lupin (GMA ) is Not Based On Lupin III (Japan Anime)

A lot of nasty things have been said when everybody learned that Lupin will be adapted by GMA-7 into a TV series. Just like everyone else I assumed Lupin (GMA) is based on the famous Japanese anime Lupin III. Thank God GMA quickly gave press releases to clear things up. First:

Question: Will Lupin be another telefantasya? (television fantasy series, Tagalized term)

No, although Direk Mike wants to make sure that kids will still be able to enjoy the program. “We were always talking about it, and ang approach na gusto ko sana is for it to be more hyper real. Trans: the approach I want is for it to be more hyper real. (This means) it’s still all grounded, everything that happens is realistic, but the way I’m covering it, the way I’m shooting it, is a bit askew – you know, like the angles, the lighting, and all that, just to give it that sheen, that X-factor...that gloss! Even though it’s not as colorful or comedic as the anime, I still want it to be accessible to kids, because it’s Lupin, he’s such a beloved character!”

Lupin is actually a French classic titled Arsine Lupin. “(For the anime, it's Lupin III), medyo iba ‘yung name, iba ‘yung supporting characters, Trans. slightly altered name, different supporting characters, and it’s much more comedic; much more fantastic. So we borrowed straight from the source material…We focused on the original (French) version and made our own, adjusted it sana, na talagang for Filipino taste.” Trans. adjusted it hopefully that’s fit for Filipino taste.

Me: So actually I didn’t know that Lupin III is based on Arsine Lupin and I thought all along that Lupin is an original Japanese concept. Whew, so I guess that would zip the smart mouths out there like my cousin who’s a true Lupin III fanatic lol.

Btw, I thought Lupin will premiere this Monday and stoopid me, it’ll be actually on April 9, 2007. But on the bright side, since Bakekang has ended Jumong is airing earlier and on a longer time slot. Well, that’s really good news for us Jumongers. Photos below are the early releases of GMA 7 (I love this network) has released in their official site. Richard Gutierrez is so sexy!

This show promises to be fun I really hope GMA will maintain the "watchability" of this show since the story looks so promising. What I mean is just like with Encantadia, yes at first I loved the show but come on, they had scenes where two opposing forces faced/off with their respective armies. How come the cavalry suspiciously look less than three in numbers? Details pls!!! And oh, the scene in Asian treasures where Gabriella's dad died in a plane explosion any kid could tell that the plane used can actually be bought in Toy Kingdom. Alright I know our country is poor but at least be inventive please ^_^. Still I think Lupin really looks promising. :)

Guys I'm actually planning on posting episode recaps on Lupin it won't be easy but I'll try my best to achieve that. :)
