Hunk Alfred Vargas writes a prayer for actors

Gorgeous Alfred Vargas and multi-awarded director Maryo J. delos Reyes shared a prayer each for the prayer book “Straight From The Heart.” The said prayer book was launched at St. Paul ’s bookstore SM Megamall branch last Friday which was attended by both the actor and the director. Also present there was Rev. Fr. Mario Jose C. Ladra who compiled the prayers in the book.

Alfred was flattered with the chance to given him to contribute a prayer. “It’s an honor for me to have been asked to contribute a prayer,” whose prayer is entitled A Prayer of a TV and Movie Actor/Actress.

“This is also my way of showing my appreciation and thanks to the Lord for the blessings that He has given me.”

He wishes that even his co-actors would also find good use of the prayer that he gave for the book. “I’ve been using this prayer ever since. The basic message na nasa prayer, iyon talaga ang dinarasal ko. I was able to articulate my thoughts here in the book kasi binuo ko ang dasal,” says Alfred who came from a conservative and deeply religious family.

It was Fr. Mar who blessed Alfred’s new house. He’s also a friend of the actor’s grandmother.

Part of the proceeds of sales of “Straight from the Heart” will go to the vocation and scholarship program of Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary Alumni Association, of which Direk Maryo J is the president. Direk Maryo also contributed a prayer in the book.

Here’s the prayer written by Alfred Vargas:

Lord Jesus Christ, to be an actor/actress is to be your instrument in showing the beauty, drama, and meaning of life you have given us on earth.

Today, as I take on the demanding responsibilities of being your servant, grant me —a healthy body to welcome the Holy Spirit and be my strength against stress, pressures, and any physical threats;
—a clean soul to battle temptations of fame, fortune, selfishness, and vanity; —and a sincere heart to effectively communicate your message in every scene that I do to all who are watching.

I humbly ask all these qualities from you, Lord Jesus Christ, for it is only with a healthy body, a clean soul, and a sincere heart that I can truly serve you as an actor/actress.

Thank you for giving me the chance to be who you want me to be.

I offer everything back to you.

May your glory remain in my heart forever and ever.

Amen.

It will be Rufa Mae & Paolo Bediones Vs. Kris Aquino

GMA-7 has a new game show named Whammy! Push Your Luck hosted by Paolo Bediones and Rufa Mae Quinto which will premiere on October 8, Monday.

The said game show is a franchise from FemantleMedia, the company responsible for famous game shows American Idol, The Apprentice, The Price Is Right, and Family Feud.

Whammy! and Kapamilya Deal or No Deal will face-off since they have the same air time. Both of them will air before each station's evening news program.

Kris has announced earlier that one of these days she'll be a contestant for a change and Boy Abunda will host for the said episode.

Cristine Reyes' new leading man is Jackie Chan's son

Chinese director Kant Leung from Hong Kong will take over Cristine Reyes' launching movie.

News has it that Jackie Chan Jr. will be her leading man. Lucky girl, do your best!

Susan Mayer Delfino (Terri Hatcher) is being checked-up by her OB-Gyne, and the doctor is asking her some indications of a certain condition:

Hot flashes, night sweating. Susan freaks out and cuts the doctor short, and here’s what she says that’s so nice to hear for all the Filipinos out there filling in the shortage of America’s medical workers:

“Okay, before we go any further, can I check those diplomas? Coz I would just like to make sure they are not from some med school in the Philippines."

I don’t know, but me thinks these words cuts too deep to be taken as a joke. Way to go writers of DH.

Mexican heartthrob Gael Garcia Bernal will shoot in Manila

Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal will come to the Philippines to shoot a portion of his new movie Mammoth.
A source tells PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that a famous Spanish film group will film in Manila in December a movie starring Gael.

Gael topbills Mammoth, an English language debut of Swedish director Lukas Moodysson. The movie is a domestic drama about a young couple, their child and their Filipino nanny, played by actress Marife Necisito---who appeared on indie films Ebolusyon ng Isang Pamilyang Pilipino (1994) and Pandanggo (2006).

Gael's role is a successful New York-based IT (Information Technology) tycoon who decides to radically change his life while on a trip to Thailand with his wife and daughter.

Website Variety.com says the 10 million dollar production will begin filming on November in Thailand, New York, Sweden, and Philippines.
