Wendy Valdez and Katrina Halili eyed by MTRCB
For airing a dance number that was “too sexy and very suggestive” on the daily noontime game show “Wowowee,” ABS-CBN has received another stern warning from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
Complaints
A memorandum from MTRCB chair Marissa Laguardia stated that the Board received complaints from viewers who caught Wendy Valdez, lead actress of ABS-CBN’s “Margarita,” performing a dance number on the July 25
episode of “Wowowee.”
“This office [agrees] with the viewers, particularly [about] the part where Valdez spread her legs,” Laguardia said in a letter to ABS-CBN vice president for programs Socorro Vidanes.
A three-episode suspension was earlier imposed by the MTRCB on “Wowowee” on account of several violations, including one in its May 12 episode where the breast of Eda Nolan, a cast member of the youth show “Gokada Go,” was exposed while dancing. The suspension is on appeal.
Meanwhile, the Board also reprimanded GMA 7 for a violation committed by actress Katrina Halili on the July 18 episode of the network’s action-comedy series, “Lupin.”
Laguardia said the MTRCB Implementing Rules and Regulations were violated when the network allowed the airing of the episode where Halili said, “Huli ka, malibog ka, manyakis (Gotcha, lustful maniac).”
Specifically, Laguardia said, that crossed the Board’s Parental Guidance classification allowed for television.
