Beauty queen Anna Theresa Licaros tries her hand at singing

Beauty queen Anna Theresa Licaros tries her luck anew, but not in another beauty contest. The Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2007 is not only beauty and brain but she also possesses a singing voice that will be heard on GMA-7's new reality-based singing contest, Celebrity Duets, to be hosted by singing couple Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid.

Kahit busy si Theresa sa kanyang law studies sa University of the Philippines at ang

kanyang duties as the reigning Bb.

"Mahilig akong mag-videoke, I sing in the shower, but it's not something that I want to do professionally. It's just something that I enjoy doing," pag-amin ni Theresa sa panayam sa kanya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during the presentation of celebrity contestants ng Celebrity Duets kahapon, August 6, sa 17th floor ng GMA-7.

Dagdag pa niya, "Plus the fact na you can raise money for charity, talagang it really caught my attention. Anong gagawin mo doon?

"This is a great way to raise money for charity. Parang hindi puwedeng all talk. You should put your money where your mouth is. And why not, this is a fun way to raise money, di ba?"

Eight non-singer celebrities will be paired with eight professional singers sa Celebrity Duets. Ang mga kasama ni Therese na celebrity non-singer contestants are fashion designer Frederick Peralta, Dr. Vicki Belo's boyfriend Hayden Kho, beauty doctor Dr. Manny Calayan, talent managers Jessica Rodriguez and Wyngard Tracy, and socialites Tessa Prieto-Valdes and Tim Yap. The names of the professional singers have yet to be announced.

"Oh, I think I have an equal chance," kampante niyang sagot. "Most of us really are just here for fun. And the mere fact na may text votes, well, I hope makakuha ako ng maraming votes para tuluy-tuloy ang pagsali ko. And 'yon nga, all is not lost.

I think I can really use that and lend it to the charity that I choose," sabi pa niya.

MISS UNIVERSE 2007.

"They treated us nicely. Actually, the supervisors were very nice to the girls. We all had a good time, parang it was so easy to make friends," kuwento ni Theresa tungkol sa Miss Universe organizers.

And even if na sinasabi nilang mayroon, feeling ko wala naman. Mexicans really don't have a say in the pageant. They were the host country but they treated the girls naman very nicely. Wala namang discrimination. It's really an American company naman, 'yung Miss Universe organization," sabi ng beauty queen.

"Well, honestly, I think she deserved to be in the Top 5," sagot niya. "I think Miss Korea was more deserving to win kasi para sa akin, siya ang pinakamaganda. Si Miss Japan kasi, she intended to look sexy, e."

"Every single day that I spent in Mexico, I really tried my best to be on top kasi you're representing your country," pahayag niya.

That's the reality of it, pageant nga, e," rason niya.

"Only three people walked away with something: Ms Photogenic, Ms Congeniality, and Ms Universe. So, I feel very flattered that they find me photogenic. I feel very blessed na I register well in the camera and tatlo na kaming candidates [from the Philippines] na sumali sa international beauty contest na photogenic. Sunud-sunod, di ba? If you want to be very optimistic about it, di photogenic talaga ang mga Pinay, di ba?" pang-Miss Universe na paliwanag niya.
